Week 6

Intention, Attention, Attitude.

All feelings are for feeling.

  • Mindfulness trains us in how to listen to our emotions and our bodies: How does it feel in my body when I imagine making this decision? Do I feel calm and at ease? Is there a sense of relief? A sense of alignment?  For our students it is a feeling of confidence.  When we feel confident we make the best choices.

  • Intention. Reflect on what your deepest hope is for the outcome of this decision. How might you feel once you reach the "right" choice for you? Reflect on what choices and actions will lead to greater well-being for yourself and others.

  • Attention.  Bring your full attention to your mental processes, your body sensations, and your emotional responses as you consider the decision. All the feelings are for feeling.

  • Attitude. Recognize all of the concerns, ideas, emotions, and thoughts that come to you. Allow yourself whatever reactions you are having to the different options.

Our experiences and understanding of the process will help us help our students be better decision makers.  Positive and healthy choices come from listening to our body and reflecting without judgement.
